information from both the Greek Railway's and the busses'
organisations about departure schedules is a negative point.
Further more we suggest extensive reading before your visit to
Olympia. Earthquakes and river floods have hardly left anything
standing.

1. Travelling from Athens to Ancient Olympia on
the intercity busses.
Choosing a late night return to
Athens is the negative point of doing the trip by bus.
The busses depart from the KTEL station of
Kifissou (called "Stathmos KTEL Kifissou").
You must arrange your way to the bus terminal by city bus or
taxi.

Buy a ticket from Athens to Olympia with return. You gain the
return discount.
The bus travels via Corinth and Patras to Pyrgos and connects to
the bus to Olympia.
In Pyrgos remember to book your return seat to Athens, at the bus
ticket office.
The trip takes 5 hrs. all together, and the total cost for the 2
bus routes is +/- € 50.00 euros.

2. Travelling from Athens to Ancient Olympia by
train.
Buy a rail ticket from Athens
to Olympia. The train follows the route
Athens-Kiato-Patras-Pyrgos-Olympia.
Your starting train station in Athens will be from "Stathmos
Larissis".Make sure that you get on the train to Kiato.
At Kiato you change platform and board the old railway to Pyrgos
and at Pyrgos again you change platform and board the train to
Olympia.
You must arrange your way to the Railway Station by local transport or taxi.
The total time of the trip by train, with
the connection times will be roughly under 6 hrs each way. This is the
negative point of travelling by train.

The cost per person starts from 33.00 euros and

The entrance ticket is not included and it
